Our Comment Policy
We uphold the values of open communication and community spirit. We allow polite debate, courteous negative feedback, calm disagreement, and more. In short, we people share their views, feedback and criticism openly, even if the comments don’t portray us in a shining light.
However, we’ve had our blogs soaked with gasoline and lit on fire a few times when people forgot common courtesy and polite discussion.

We’re casual, sure. But don’t come trash our house or rip up our yard and expect us to allow that behavior.
We’ll delete any comment that is rude, name-calls or goes beyond the boundaries of everyday courtesy in society. Would you yell at a stranger on the street? No. So don’t do it here.
We reserve the right to warn commentators when they are toeing the line between discussion and disaster. Three warnings, you’re out. It works for kindergarten kids, so it should work well for adults who are supposed to be more mature.
We also reserve the right to block or ban any individual without warning for behaviour that we feel lacks respect for us, our readers or our site.
Any racist, sexist or any other “ist” comment is shot dead on sight. We don’t tolerate intolerance. Period.
As for spam, it doesn’t even make it past the moderation point.
Disagree with us or other readers, yes. Voice your views and opinions, sure. Do so with manners and diplomacy. Attack people personally? No. Being attacked on a blog or in a comment section is a horrible, horrible experience. We won’t allow that to happen here.
That said, we hope we never have to apply these measures and that all our readers and visitors enjoy the friendly, open community spirit we encourage.
