Although not officially released, MultiVersus still attracts over 60,000 PC gamers.

According to SteamDB, MultiVersus has an average of 37,509 players online, and that number peaks at 61,964. Some analysis from Event Hubs, a website specializing in fighting game news, compared the above information with data from 13 other popular fighting games and concluded that MultiVersus beat the competition by tens of thousands of players. For example, MultiVersus surpassed Dragon Ball FighterZ (which had the most player count at one point, reaching 44,234). The other 13 fighting games surveyed had a combined average player count of 28,902.

These are big numbers, for two reasons: This leaderboard only adds players on Steam, and MultiVersus is currently in Closed Beta. A lot of people have played MultiVersus, as well as every other fighting game surveyed by Event Hubs, on consoles and off Steam. Therefore, these numbers only reflect a small part of the big picture and need to be examined more closely.

MultiVersus is a fighting game with a platform element, with some similarities to Super Smash Brothers, but with a different cast of Warner Bros. copyrighted characters. MultiVersus will enter open beta on July 26. The game also announced that professional basketball player LeBron James will be joining the MultiVersus universe from open beta. The character Morty from the animated show Rick & Morty will enter the fray when Season 1 comes out. The remaining character of the duo – Rick will appear in the future.
