FromSoftware’s next game may not be in the Soulslike series, but it will still feature large-scale challenging boss battles that have made the developer one of the most popular game studios on the planet. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was announced at The Game Awards 2022.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is the revival of FromSoftware’s dormant mecha series, and director Masaru Yamamura (who is best known as Sekiro’s lead designer) has promised that a core element of Dark Souls will appear in the new game.
Director Yamamura said, “The boss battles are the highlight of the game in this part. The nature of the battles, in which players learn the enemy’s moves and then play with them, will emerge in a similar way to other FromSoftware games. In this game both your enemy and your robot are aggressive and violent when launching attacks. We are developing the game so that players can enjoy intense and dynamic boss battles that only robots can offer, along with other unique aspects, such as how to assemble the right division to face the strongest enemies.”
In addition to these boss battles, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki explained in an exclusive interview with IGN that the studio had no intention or intention of steering Armored Core VI in the direction of Soulsborne-style gameplay. In other words, Armored Core will not be a sci-fi Soulslike game. Instead, the game still focuses on custom robot mechanics.
