Last week, Back 4 Blood began beta testing on Steam and reached the top 10 of the most played games on this platform today. The successor to Left 4 Dead had up to 100,000 players at the same time last Saturday night, which is undoubtedly an extremely favorable start for the new masterpiece from Turtle Rock Studios. However, some players recently discovered that Back 4 Blood has some controversial sound effects, intended to insult the black community.
Back 4 Blood also has a large pack of zombies like Left 4 Dead, but they are clearly louder and more unruly as they often scream and scream. Most of those screams were random, but some players heard sounds meant to scold and humiliate people of color. Videos recording that sound are continuously posted and spread on social media, making many people frustrated.
Twitter user @HomBKE reported encountering a zombie in the beta that lunged at the player while shouting the n-word. The N-word refers to nigger or nigga, a word used to refer to people of color in a derogatory manner, with racist and offensive connotations.
Many videos recording this controversial sound have been published and spread online.
Upon receiving this negative information, Warner Bros. immediately issued a correction. The company stated that this was not its intention and it had no intention of offending anyone. The controversial sound above is created by two random zombie grunts mixed together. The Back 4 Blood development team is working hard to fix this issue during the beta period or at the latest before the official release of the game.
