Within a week of release, Baldur’s Gate 3 quickly became one of the most popular games on Steam. This achievement may surprise many people because Baldur’s Gate 3 took until August 3 to hit Steam.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an upcoming RPG from Larian Studios, the company behind the Divinity series. Baldur’s Gate 3 takes place 120 years after Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, the final installment in BioWare’s Baldur’s Gate series released in 2000. More than two decades later, Larian Studios is bringing back this iconic RPG franchise with a new game, featuring so many hostile creatures and friendly companions, that human players can “love” with some characters in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Although the full release has yet to be officially released, Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently one of the best-selling games on Steam. Baldur’s Gate 3 ranks second on the list, behind CS:GO. The recent release has made the fans even more excited for the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently nearing the end of Early Access.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s pre-release appeal indicates good sales for Larian Studios. Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical even pushed back its release schedule to avoid having to compete with Baldur’s Gate 3 in its opening week. Larian Studios recently confirmed that players will need between 75 and 100 hours to complete the main story of Baldur’s Gate 3. For those who want to “clean up” the entire game, they will need double the aforementioned time.
The developer also shared some features that players can explore when Baldur’s Gate 3 launches in August. The game will launch with two new races, one new sub-race, one new class, 22 new sub-classes, new companions, and one new original character. Players who tried Baldur’s Gate 3 during Early Access can experience a total of three difficulty modes and higher level caps than currently available. Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 3 on PC and on September 6 on PS5.
