Some of our favorite Blizzard games are coming to Steam soon. Today, Blizzard announced that it plans to bring a wide range of its games to Valve’s digital storefront. “While we remain committed to continuing to invest in and support Battle.net, we want to break down the barriers to make it easier for players around the world to find and enjoy our games,” said the Overwatch developer.
The first Blizzard game to land on Steam will be Overwatch 2, with the title launching on August 10, just in time for players to take part in the Overwatch 2: Invasion event, showcasing the highly anticipated PvE story missions. Steam players will still need to connect Overwatch 2 to a Battle.net account, but will have access to all Steam services, such as friend lists and achievements.

Although Blizzard says the company will be bringing more games to Steam, Overwatch 2 is currently the only game revealed. Blizzard promises to share more games when the time is right.
It’s no surprise that Overwatch 2 is the game that Blizzard chose as a Steam ambassador. In addition to news about the future fate of the Overwatch League, the publisher’s recent quarterly earnings report also includes news that player engagement and investment in Overwatch 2 has steadily declined during the quarter. Perhaps Blizzard is hoping that the arrival of new and highly anticipated content on a new platform will boost those numbers.
