Deus Ex Go and 3 other Square Enix mobile games will stop working from next year

Onoma Studio, formerly known as Square Enix Montreal, is shutting down this week, bringing some of its mobile titles with it. On November 24, Onoma Studio announced that Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, Arena Battle Champions, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes would be shutting down on January 4.

Older games will be removed from the App Store and Google Play Store starting December 1st. Players who have downloaded the games will be able to continue playing until all four games are suspended on January 4. In-game purchases will not be available. as of November 24. The publisher encourages players who purchased the item to use it before the game shuts down.

While publishers often shut down servers or stop direct support for older games, in this case the four mentioned titles will be discontinued entirely starting January 4. Closing games include both the popular mobile puzzle game Deus Ex Go and a new title released less than a year ago. Back – Hitman Sniper: The Shadows.​

Other games in Onoma’s “Go” series, Lara Croft Go and Hitman Go, will not be affected by the studio closure. Onoma was acquired by the Embracer Group earlier this year along with Square Enix’s other western-market studios. Square Enix Montreal changed its name in October, before Embracer announced that the studio would shut down permanently in November.
