Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is a mobile battle royale game in which 75 players fight on a map inspired by Midgar in Final Fantasy Remake. The game combines melee combat with long-range gunfights and Final Fantasy elements like summons, Materia magic, etc. However, Square Enix’s plan to expand the world of Final Fantasy VII to the mobile platform fell through when the publisher announced that the battle royale game Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier would be shutting down in early 2023.
The game will be discontinued on January 11, 14 months after its November 17, 2021 release. Square Enix said the company will continue to support the game with new updates until its shutdown date in January.
In the latest announcement, the publisher said that game quality issues were the main cause of the sudden shutdown. Square Enix has also stopped trading Shinra Credits (The First Soldier’s currency). Players who already have Shinra Credits can still use them.

The publisher stated: “Despite all our efforts to provide players with regular updates with new and exciting content, we have not been able to create the experience we hoped for. Therefore, we have made the extremely difficult decision to end the service for Final Fantasy VII. . first soldier”.
Players can still download Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier for free on iOS and Android devices from now until January.
