Genshin Impact Takes Players to Fontaine Water Country in Update 4.0

Update 4.0 called “Like a Light Rain of Unexplained Cause” will bring a lot of new content, including the new land Fontaine, the fifth country of Teyvat. Fontaine is a cultural, artistic and technological center and a nation of justice. The update will include new adventures, game modes, ghost quests, and the first three playable characters of Fontaine. In addition to the city above ground, players can also immerse themselves in underwater adventures.

Fontaine is located in the northeast of the Sumeru desert and is ruled by Focalors, the god of Justice. Under the reign of the Water God, the trials became a major public event at the Epiclese Institute of Drama. Players can go on underwater adventures in some areas of the country. In the water, the character will consume underwater stamina by swimming fast. Players can also collect Recovery Orbs to restore stamina or swim through Chaos Bubbles to increase movement speed. Underwater combat will be performed using different techniques, and characters can borrow the abilities of underwater creatures to defend themselves, break traps, or open treasure chests trapped in seaweed.

The update also includes the appearance of two new bosses, the Ice Wind Continuum and the Fire Steel Emperor. Ice Wind Melody is a pair of dancing robots based on Fontaine’s watch technology. The Robot couple will fight with ice-type attacks. The other boss lives in an underwater cave and is a heavily armored King Crab. The Fire Emperor not only possesses solid defense, but can also launch powerful fire-type attacks.

Fontaine’s first three playable characters will arrive in the 4.0 update. Those are three siblings: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. Lyney is a wizard known throughout Fontaine with a 5* rarity, bow and fire type. Lynette is Lyney’s magic assistant with a rarity of 4*, sword wielder and wind type. As for Freminet, another 4* character, he is a diver and uses his greatsword to create ice and physical attacks.

In addition, version 4.0 also brings many new features and functions, such as support for motion sensors and faster loading on PlayStation. Other system optimizations include a leveled map and a new team settings interface.
