Infinite Wealth is the new name of the eighth installment of the Yakuza series.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG Studio) revealed that the eighth game in the Like a Dragon series will be called Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth in the West, and also unveiled a new promotional trailer. The trailer was shown at the Xbox Games Show, where SEGA revealed several other new games like Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio. The new name has confused a lot of people into thinking that Infinite Wealth is a new spin-off of the series, but actually the main game is Like a Dragon 8.

The Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth trailer opens with Ichiban Kasuga washing up on a crowded beach. The character is unaware of her “naked” status when she trudges through an unfamiliar area and quickly falls into an awkward situation with some tourists. The Japanese trailer retains the original title of “Like a Dragon 8”.

The background of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth caught the attention of many fans, as Ichiban did not understand what was happening to him. Based on the scenery and the English-speaking characters in the trailer, some people assume that Ichiban went to the US, the specific location is probably Hawaii. This context can be traced back to the close economic and cultural ties between Hawaii and Japan.

The official website of the game is also up and posting some more screenshots. Fans will have a chance to get more updates on Gaiden and Infinite Wealth at the upcoming 2023 RGG Conference.
