Netflix announced that it will produce both the video game and the Exploding Kittens TV series, marking the first time the streaming platform has released games and shows based on the same franchise. Netflix has been accelerating growth in the gaming space and this is just the biggest new step forward in the campaign.

The game is called Exploding Kittens – The Game and it is a remake of the existing mobile game. The game will launch directly on the Netflix app in May. Then Netflix will release an adult animated comedy based on the game in 2023. The movie will star Mr. Movie stars are Tom Ellis, Abraham Lim, Lucy Liu, Ally Maki, Mark Proksch. and Sasheer Zamata.
Netflix revealed that the film’s content will revolve around the story when God and the Devil transform into chubby house cats and the never-ending conflict between Heaven and Hell. The list of members of the film’s executive production team includes Mike Judge, Bandera Entertainment’s Greg Daniels, Shane Kosakowski, and original game writers Matthew Inman and Elan Lee.

Exploding Kittens: The Game will be similar to the existing mobile title, but the difference lies in two new cards exclusive to the Netflix version. They are Radar (reveals the location of the exploding cat card closest to the top of the deck) and Flip Flop (reverses the order of the cards in the deck). After the series airs in 2023, additional cards and gameplay mechanics will be added to the main version. And just like other Netflix games, Exploding Kittens – The Game will be released for free.
