Reddit user “tidyckilla” said “Starfield saved my life and my family’s” in a post describing an all-night gaming session on August 31, when Starfield entered Early Access. When the fire broke out, this lucky player was still awake and was able to react to the aforementioned emergency situation.
Tidyckilla shared: “I’ve been waiting for this game since the first IP rumors appeared around 2015-2016 (can’t remember exactly when). I’ve pre-ordered the premium version and can’t wait to experience the game. On the night of August 31 I decided to staying up and playing as long as I could to experience this new universe. At 2:26 am while I was playing I heard an explosion coming from my neighbor’s apartment downstairs.”

The player continued the story: “I paused the game to see what was happening. When I opened the door, I saw flames coming from the stairs that led to our apartment. I immediately got my wife and cat to safety with only minor burns. If I hadn’t plunged into Starfield I’d probably be asleep and we’d all die from inhaling smoke from the fire. I want to thank this game for saving me and my family from a terrible fate.”
Tidyckilla also posted some photos of the fire that broke out in the city of Chico, in northern California. According to the krcrtv television network, the fire left one person dead in the Sheridan Manor apartment, three others trapped in a second-floor bedroom were rescued by a ladder.
