Even after all these years, Dead By Daylight continues to surpass our expectations. With the recent introduction of Nicolas Cage as a Survivor in the DBD Universe, fans are eagerly waiting to get their hands on their favorite actor. But wouldn’t it be amazing if you could test him out before other players? Well, get ready to dive into the world of Public Test Builds, where you can have almost instant access to the newest changes coming to your favorite multiplayer game. So, how do you join the Public Test Build in Dead by Daylight?
What is the Public Test Build in Dead By Daylight?
The PTB gives players the chance to step into the shoes of the newest characters in the game. For example, in the month of August, a new extraterrestrial killer will be available to play. Fans of the franchise can dive right into this acid-blooded creature and test them out. You will have access to all their perks and abilities, allowing you to determine if they will be your new favorite killer.
How Do I Sign Up For Public Test Build Betas in Dead By Daylight?
Joining the Public Test Build Betas for Dead by Daylight is simple. Just follow these steps:

- Under Beta Participation, select Public Test.
- Click the X in the right-hand corner to return to Steam.
- Click Play to enter the Beta.
Can You Carry Your Progress Over From the PTB to Your Main Game?
Unfortunately, one downfall of the PTBs is that you cannot transfer your progress back to the main game once it ends. Any progress you make during your time in the PTB is lost when you either revert back to the Official Release or when the PTB concludes. It’s a double-edged sword. While you get the chance to test out the newest perks, characters, and more, you won’t retain your Bloodpoints or Shards when you return to the game. If you’ve invested a lot of time into the game, it may still be worth the effort.
Can You Play the PTB on Consoles?
If you’re a Dead by Daylight player on Console, you might be wondering if you can participate in these tests. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, there is no way to join the PTB if you’re playing on a console. It also doesn’t seem likely that this will change in the future. So, if you want to experience the PTB, you may need to double dip and purchase the game again on Steam to try out the new features.
Whether you’re a new player or someone like me who has fallen in love with its unique take on multiplayer, Dead By Daylight offers an interesting approach to the familiar scene of online gaming.
