According to Sensor Tower data, PUBG Mobile has passed a major milestone, reaching over $10 billion in revenue. The Tencent game has enjoyed global success, but China remains a particularly lucrative market, accounting for 60.3% of the game’s total revenue. It is followed by the United States (10.7%), Japan (3.7%) and South Korea (1.6%).
China also leads in terms of average revenue per download (ARPD), averaging $34.2, followed by Japan at $31.8, followed by the United States at $15.9, and Korea at $7.9. The success of the game in Japan, which is notoriously tough for mobile games and a difficult market for mobile game creators to penetrate, has highlighted the strength of PUBG Mobile.
In terms of downloads, India, where the game operates under the name of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), leads the way with 21.8% of total downloads. China and the United States ranked in the top three with 14.3% and 5.9%, respectively.

The FPS game was identified as the second highest-grossing game in the past two years, behind another Tencent game, Glory of Kings. However, PUBG Mobile dominates the rankings of the shooter genre, with sales three times higher than Garena’s Free Fire.
The appeal of PUBG Mobile stems from many factors, such as successfully transferring the attractive elements of the PC version to mobile devices, while improving accessibility with intuitive controls and a user-friendly interface. Furthermore, Tencent has managed to take advantage of the RPG of the battle royale genre and social features to give players a team gaming experience.
