Roblox, one of the largest 3D role-playing gaming platforms, will soon be available on Sony consoles. News of the launch was announced during the Roblox Developer Conference in California over the weekend.
Starting in October, PS4 and PS5 users will be able to access the full Roblox experience. The company says bringing new experiences to consoles is an important step in bringing Roblox to all the most popular devices. Additionally, the company also announced that the Roblox Xbox app will receive an update, bringing a new look, regular updates, improved content recommendations and user experience.
For content creators, Roblox Corporation will soon launch experiential subscriptions and offer freedom as a subscription model. Later this month, Roblox will invite Premium users with verified ID to create 3D items for the Marketplace. When the Marketplace opens its doors this year, it will be easier for creators to detect their duplicate items and report, manage and track intellectual property claims. As of June 2023, Roblox developers have earned $680 million in 12 months.
Roblox Connect was also announced. This is a new way for people to call their avatars in a shared experience. The feature will launch later this year and will allow users to call a friend on their Roblox friends list by their real name with facial expressions, body language nuances, and shared living space experiences on Roblox.
In July, Roblox announced that the platform would soon be available on Meta Quest for users 13 and older. In the first five days, the Meta Quest open beta attracted more than 1 million downloads.
